This week, the first of two programs featuring a 1977 oral history interview with Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV), the longest-serving current member of Congress. Frank van der Lindon conducted the interview for the United States Capitol Historical Society. This week's portion of the recording focuses on Robert Byrd's childhood in North Carolina and West Virginia; and his early political career.
